How does the devil divert our attention? By tempting us to complexify our lives. We work very hard in order to raise our standards of living. We spend much time at parties and socializing to maintain our popularity. When we finally get home, we are busy with social media, watching TV, or planning our next vacation. We simply don’t allow ourselves to have quiet time, knowing that once we enter into solitude, we are forced to confront problems from which we try to escape. Cardinal Robert Sarah says: \u201cFor man can encounter God in truth only in silence and solitude, both interior and exterior.\u201d (Cardinal Robert Sarah, The Power of Silence: Against the Dictatorship of Noise<\/em>)<\/h2>\n

The trivial things in our daily lives keep imposing pressure on the soil of our hearts, making it increasingly impermeable. Unless we make an effort to simplify our lives, there is no space for the Word of God to enter.<\/h1>\n

Words are not enough, deeds are required\u2026 One must enter the kingdom, that is, become a disciple of Christ, in order to ‘know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven’. For those who stay ‘outside’, everything remains enigmatic.\u201d (CCC 546)<\/h2>\n
