Today, we face the most challenging question that Jesus poses to every one of us, \u201cWho do you think that I am?\u201d<\/b> (Mark 8:29) \u201cIn what way is Jesus related to me?\u201d Any serious relationship involves commitment. However, commitment <\/b>is one of the least understood virtues in this age. We can see that in the high divorce rate. If we have not committed ourselves to Jesus, we haven't yet established a serious and intimate relationship with Him.\u00a0<\/h2>\n

Our honest answer to that question reveals three different levels of our relationship with Jesus: 1) no relationship; 2) impersonal and casual relationship; 3) or a serious, intimate and permanent relationship. An intimate relationship with Jesus means a serious commitment, putting Him first and at the centre of our lives<\/b>.\u00a0<\/h2>\n

Think of it like a marriage. Unless we truly desire an intimate relationship with Jesus, our current relationship with Him will go nowhere. Without this deep relationship, we will part ways with Him when bad times come. That is why we have to answer this difficult question posed by Jesus in this Lenten retreat.<\/h2>\n

The Purpose of Parables.<\/strong>

But here he sounds like he wants to reserve his words to a special group. The Catechism<\/i> explains, \u201cThrough his parables he invites people to the feast of the kingdom, but he also asks for a radical choice: to gain the kingdom, one must give everything. Words are not enough, deeds are required\u2026 One must enter the kingdom, that is, become a disciple of Christ, in order to ‘know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven’. For those who stay ‘outside’, everything remains enigmatic.\u201d (CCC 546)<\/h2>\n
