_module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; header_5_font=&#8221;|700|||||||&#8221; header_5_text_color=&#8221;#750059&#8243; header_5_font_size=&#8221;18px&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday\u2019s reflection focuses on how we have gradually become attached to some of our overpowering preferences or likes\/dislikes.\u00a0 You may wonder: What are my preferences in my life?\u00a0 Let us offer an example.\u00a0 Some may have unique preferences for food and drinks, and their choices are restricted to limited items.\u00a0 When the circumstances allow us to choose or make decisions, this may not be a problem. However, what about when we are guests in someone\u2019s home, or imagine we are one of the seventy-two disciples sent by Jesus on a mission?\u00a0 In the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 10, Verses 1 to 12, Jesus\u2019 instructions to the seventy-two have mentioned, twice, how they should take care of their needs for food.\u00a0 Jesus said to them, \u201cWhenever you enter a town and its people welcome you, eat what is set before you\u201d (Luke 10:7,8).\u00a0 How would a \u201cpicky\u201d eater be able to fulfil the mission, given by Lord Jesus, with a peaceful heart?\u00a0 Or, how may this person, at least, try to focus on the work at hand instead of on the food that he\/she can\u2019t stand?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jesus also said,<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_testimonial author=&#8221;(Luke 10:4)&#8221; disabled_on=&#8221;off|off|off&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Bible verse&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; body_text_color=&#8221;#FFFFFF&#8221; author_text_color=&#8221;#FFFFFF&#8221; background_color=&#8221;#d43b3e&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;bounce&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCarry no purse, no bag, no sandals; and greet no one on the road.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_testimonial][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Under the circumstances, how could someone, for instance, who often craves a sense of security and comfort, or who is obsessed with cleanliness, accept Jesus\u2019 invitation to evangelize effectively and without worries?<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Blockquote&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>It would be impossible for Jesus to commission us, be it the \u201cgreater works\u201d or even the small tasks,\u00a0 while trying to side-step our every qualm.\u00a0 Do we, servants, want to add to our master\u2019s troubles, before we begin to serve Him?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>The most difficult challenge is the first thing that Jesus said during the commissioning:<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_testimonial author=&#8221;(Luke 10:3)&#8221; disabled_on=&#8221;off|off|off&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Bible verse&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; body_text_color=&#8221;#FFFFFF&#8221; author_text_color=&#8221;#FFFFFF&#8221; background_color=&#8221;#d43b3e&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;bounce&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>\u201cSee, I am sending you out like lambs into the midst of wolves.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_testimonial][et_pb_image src=&#8221;https:\/\/lent.fll.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/sheep-herd.jpg&#8221; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Oh no, Jesus, what kind of mission is this?\u00a0 Are You trying to scare off everyone?\u00a0 Given what You said, who would ever dare to be sent out by You to evangelize?<\/p>\n<p>Do you think that Jesus is unaware of our fear?\u00a0 Or would He not anticipate our hesitation of following Him after He states everything upfront explicitly?<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Blockquote&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>In truth, Jesus does not intend to hide anything from us.\u00a0 He wants us to understand the price of being His followers, that is, His disciples: all the dangers and persecutions that come with it; the worries and stress resulting from the lack of resources; all kinds of discomfort, inconvenience, and dislikes.\u00a0 Jesus wants us to fully understand and be mentally prepared before we make the right decision.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Unlike the disciples who have been prepared by Jesus\u2019 teachings and formation, Mary, during her encounter with the angel Gabriel, does not have the benefit of mentally preparing herself, nor the clarity about the extent and gravity of her responsibilities, or how \u201cterrifying\u201d it could be, and yet, she has to make the decision right away. So, compared to Mary, how blessed are we!\u00a0<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>However, our Lord Jesus, the Son of God, does not merely send His disciples to complete seemingly impossible tasks. He walks ahead of them and shows them what to do by fulfilling every single one of His own teachings!\u00a0 Jesus, the Lord of all creation and the whole universe, the King of kings, chooses to be born in a lowly manger; isn\u2019t this the pinnacle of humility?\u00a0 When a scribe approached Jesus and asked,<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_testimonial author=&#8221;(Matthew 8:19-20)&#8221; disabled_on=&#8221;off|off|off&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Bible verse&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; body_text_color=&#8221;#FFFFFF&#8221; author_text_color=&#8221;#FFFFFF&#8221; background_color=&#8221;#d43b3e&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;bounce&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.\u2019 And Jesus said to him, \u2018Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_testimonial][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>What does this tell us?\u00a0 Jesus demonstrates the <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>spirit of a true Christian<\/strong><\/span> by <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>being a role-model Himself<\/strong><\/span>, and teaching His disciples <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>the right attitude<\/strong><\/span> and the <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>preparation<\/strong><\/span> required for following Him.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>As Christians, when we proclaim our desire to follow Christ<\/strong><\/span>, live in God, live according to Christ\u2019s teachings and spirit, and to follow Christ\u2019s instructions of evangelization, <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>we need to be clear about the identity to which we identify and the responsibilities that we promise to fulfil; and more importantly, we must execute all these in earnest.\u00a0\u00a0 Otherwise, we are only Christians in name!<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Blockquote&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Therefore, if we want to live out our Christian identity, which implies our responsibility to evangelize, we need to recognize that learning the know-how and techniques of evangelization is only a small part of equipping ourselves.\u00a0 What is more important and fundamental is that we must <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>equip ourselves with the right attitude and a strong will<\/strong><\/span>, as well, strive to offer God all our likes and dislikes, especially those frivolous ones and those preferences that prevent God from using us or sending us out.\u00a0 He will certainly accept these offerings! \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>In the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 19 Verse 21, Jesus said to the wealthy young man,<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_testimonial author=&#8221;(Matthew 19:21)&#8221; disabled_on=&#8221;off|off|off&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Bible verse&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; body_text_color=&#8221;#FFFFFF&#8221; author_text_color=&#8221;#FFFFFF&#8221; background_color=&#8221;#d43b3e&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;bounce&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you wish to be perfect, go, <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>sell your possessions<\/strong><\/span>, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_testimonial][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Let us embrace Jesus\u2019 words: to \u201csell\u201d everything that we have been carrying in our baggage of personal preferences and then follow Him! <\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.8.2&#8243; however, I didn\u2019t realize that I had been confused about the true meaning of being a Christian.\u00a0 How ignorant am I!\u00a0 I understand that being a Christian is only part of my identity; the more important part is being your child, that is, a prince or princess!\u00a0 I can\u2019t believe how my ignorance has thwarted my living out these two important identities.\u00a0 How has this made you worried and broken Your heart!\u00a0 I am truly thirsting to be close to Your heart so that I may know Your will.\u00a0 Do not allow me to wander away from You again!\u00a0 My dearest Father and King, Abba Father, accept my limited but genuine love for You.\u00a0 I love You forever!<\/p>\n<p>Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
