the \u201cCornerstone of Our Lives\u201d. In part two, the theme of \u201cPriorities in Life\u201d may have shocked you: Does it mean that everything in life, be it good or bad, is the same as the \u201cmany things\u201d that come under the umbrella of \u201cpreference\u201d and \u201cattachment\u201d; gradually evolving into \u201cdistractions\u201d, resulting in \u201caccumulation\u201d and eventually becoming an \u201caddiction\u201d? Are we supposed to let go of everything? You may wonder, \u201cIs everything in this world bad? Should we not do anything then?\u00a0 How could we make sense of all these?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Blockquote&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>First of all, the key lies in our \u201cattitude\u201d, that is, the way we perceive and tackle these things will determine whether these things are good or bad for us. Secondly, even if their nature is good and our attitude is appropriate, this does not imply these \u201cgood deeds\u201d are what God wants for us.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>God has His own plan that is beyond human reasoning and understanding. Therefore, we must <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>pray <\/strong><\/span>and <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>discern with appropriate methods<\/strong><\/span> to fully understand God\u2019s will.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Everything in this world is God\u2019s \u201cgift\u201d for all humanity. For some people, certain things can lead them to God; however, the same things might not be of help or could become stumbling blocks for others that lead them astray and away from God.<\/strong><\/span> Therefore, we should not over-generalize but should choose, with care according to our personal circumstances and needs, and more importantly, following God\u2019s will, the things that can help us fulfil our \u201clife\u2019s purpose\u201d as God\u2019s creation. Perhaps for some, health and longevity are vehicles that lead them to be closer to God; while for others, sickness and a brief life are their journey to get close to God and live in Him.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Blockquote&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Therefore, if we live with what St. Ignatius of Loyola teaches, the spirit of \u201choly indifference\u201d in everything we face, we will be able to hear and accept what God has prepared for us with a peaceful heart; a heart that never insists and is devoid of \u201cattachment\u201d. If we have the spirit of \u201choly indifference\u201d, we would know that many seemingly \u201cbad things\u201d are actually \u201cblessings in disguise\u201d!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>This is the key to live freely and with ease. With this attitude, we will be further empowered to accept all the \u201cbad things\u201d that happen to ourselves, those around us, or in the world, and not be troubled by them or be subjected to emotional turmoil.<\/p>\n<p>When we are armed with such an attitude, we will be able to avoid falling into the trap of attachment. For instance, if we lack a spirit of holy indifference to \u201cnot desire health over illnesses\u201d, we may be tempted to take measures that promote good health and prevent illnesses at all costs, including time and resources. You may ask, \u201cIsn\u2019t avoiding sickness part of human nature?\u201d True! <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>However, if we place our quest for health above our quest for God, spending more time and energy on health concerns,\u00a0 this goal of \u201cstaying healthy\u201d will replace God <\/strong><strong>and become our \u201cidols\u201d or \u201cother gods\u201d!<\/strong><\/span> You see, our health is really beyond our control because it is God\u2019s. No matter how much time and energy we put into it, we will not be certain that we can sustain our health.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=&#8221;1_2,1_2&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_2&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_image src=&#8221;https:\/\/lent.fll.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/cross-hand.jpg&#8221; title_text=&#8221;cross-hand&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Jesus reminds us in the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 6, Verse 33,<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_testimonial author=&#8221;(Matthew 6:33)&#8221; background_color=&#8221;#d43b3e&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;bounce&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_testimonial][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>This passage is, indeed, the anchor of this Lenten Retreat for us; therefore, let us engrave it in our hearts.\u00a0 If we follow Jesus\u2019 commands to seek God\u2019s kingdom and His righteousness, that is, to choose \u201cthe better part\u201d, all other things, that is, the \u201cmany things\u201d that demand our time and energy, will be added unto us under God\u2019s perfect arrangement.\u00a0 Is this not the most perfect result?\u00a0 Why do we still hesitate?<\/p>\n<p>This has concluded our reflection on the theme of \u201cletting go\u201d, covered in the last 25 days.\u00a0 Let us lay down our \u201cmany things\u201d and trade them in for the <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>\u201cone necessary thing\u201d<\/strong><\/span>, that is, our Lord Jesus Christ who is the <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>\u201ccornerstone\u201d<\/strong><\/span> of our life.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.8.2&#8243; weighing me down with worries and busy-ness.\u00a0 I need to learn to prioritize my life so that I may earnestly seek You and Your kingdom.\u00a0 Lord, help my unbelief so that I can embrace You as the \u201cone necessary thing\u201d in my life.\u00a0 Abba Father, I am willing to take refuge in You with all my heart, all my soul, and all my will!\u00a0 I love You!<\/p>\n<p>Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
