not only does this negatively affect ourselves but also those around us and the entire community to which we belong.\u00a0 Preceding this stage, we would\u00a0 experience the undesirable condition of<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong> living in a constant state of \u201churriedness\u201d<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 This is a common malady of people in today\u2019s world, especially during a time of information explosion, and in a society that puts competitiveness at its forefront.\u00a0 This <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>mental epidemic<\/strong><\/span> continues to spread throughout society.\u00a0 From the day little children start going to school, people are constantly kept busy without rest; even after their retirement, they fail to escape the clutch of a \u201churried life\u201d.\u00a0 It seems that no one can be spared from this fate. Everyone is affected by this condition; the difference is the varying degrees to which each is affected.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Indeed, \u201cefficiency\u201d, or in other words, accomplishing the most in the shortest amount of time, is a source of our \u201caddiction\u201d.\u00a0 At the core of this problem is our \u201ccompetitiveness\u201d and our tendency to challenge ourselves and others.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Thus, we cannot lay all the blame for this malady on social norms or society\u2019s culture. In fact, the biggest culprit is <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>\u201cpride\u201d<\/strong><\/span>. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text disabled_on=&#8221;off|off|off&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Blockquote&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cPride\u201d tells us to only trust ourselves and rely on our own strength instead of relying on God and trusting others.\u00a0 This provides the perfect incubator for our enemies to build upon our \u201cpride\u201d by adding \u201cmany things\u201d: distractions, preferences, attachments, and addictions, until there\u2019s no more room for God and the grace that He has prepared for us!\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; header_5_font=&#8221;|700|||||||&#8221; header_5_text_color=&#8221;#750059&#8243; header_5_font_size=&#8221;18px&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Does efficiency imply better?\u00a0 Does a lifestyle characterized by high efficiency and haste imply a perfect life?<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 In our everyday life, it is not difficult to find counter-examples.\u00a0 For instance, chewing food slowly can improve our digestion; when we take time to consider all angles, we can make better decisions than when we rush into decisions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Under life\u2019s pressure from different directions, most of us would simply yield to the clutch of \u201chigh efficiency\u201d and <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>willingly become slaves of \u201cspeed\u201d and \u201cefficiency\u201d<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 As we attempt to accomplish the most in the shortest amount of time, we tend to <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>make a series of unhealthy compromises<\/strong><\/span>, and as a result, pay a hefty price for it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text disabled_on=&#8221;off|off|off&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Blockquote&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>In the first place, \u201churriedness\u201d takes away healthy and meaningful relationships; exchanging our \u201cheart of flesh\u201d with a \u201cheart of stone\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=&#8221;1_2,1_2&#8243; header_5_font_size=&#8221;18px&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>When we are overwhelmed with our work, thus, attempting to avoid disruptions from others, we become blind and deaf to the needs of others.\u00a0 Our schedule doesn\u2019t even allow for quality time with family and friends; or we may attempt to squeeze out our last few ounces of strength, only at the end of the day, to spend a few minutes with them.\u00a0 Unfortunately, we also insert God in those last few minutes of our spare time. <strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Since we cannot see God, we often take advantage of His generosity and benevolence by placing Him as our last priorit<\/span>y.\u00a0 <\/strong>God\u2019s voice is gentle and only in silence that we may encounter Him.\u00a0 How could we nurture an intimate relationship with God in a less than ideal environment where our life is hurried?\u00a0 When we don\u2019t have time to get to know and listen to God, how could we serve Him and fulfil His will?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_text disabled_on=&#8221;off|off|off&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Blockquote&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>If we don\u2019t understand God\u2019s will and His mission for us, we are giving up a \u201cmeaningful life\u201d for an \u201caimless existence\u201d. <strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; header_5_font=&#8221;|700|||||||&#8221; header_5_text_color=&#8221;#750059&#8243; header_5_font_size=&#8221;18px&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>We can find our life\u2019s true worth by listening to God\u2019s words as well as examining and reflecting on the ebbs and flows in our life and our relationships.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span>However, it is easy to make \u201creflection\u201d a sacrificial lamb amidst our \u201churried life\u201d since the fruits of the habit of \u201creflection\u201d are often difficult to detect.\u00a0 Our inability to truly reflect on our life, coupled with the absence of God\u2019s inspiration will make us<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong> like travellers without a compass<\/strong><\/span>; we lose our sense of direction and the road ahead of us becomes <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>obscured<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 In this way, <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>we are only surviving instead of living<\/strong><\/span>; exhausting ourselves as we wander aimlessly, missing out the wonderful life that God has prepared for us!\u00a0 In other words, such a life is superficial and worthless. <strong>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800080;\">In this condition, we can never be truly \u201cconfident\u201d in ourselves, as the confidence only comes from God!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text disabled_on=&#8221;off|off|off&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Blockquote&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Finally, the cost of efficiency is our ability to \u201clive in the moment\u201d; rendering us helpless to slow down and enjoy life, and missing out on the opportunity to discern the presence of God, His footprints, His concerns for us, and His gaze on us\u2026\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; header_5_font=&#8221;|700|||||||&#8221; header_5_text_color=&#8221;#750059&#8243; header_5_font_size=&#8221;18px&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>In other words, over-exertion due to a \u201churried life\u201d has lasting and serious repercussions, such as <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>stress <\/strong><\/span>or even <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>depression<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>When we look at Jesus\u2019 life, the pressure He faced must have been a thousand times more severe than ours, and He had to accomplish the impossible in a very short time; however, <strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">He refused to seek efficiency in an earthly sense but focused on the most important things in life, that is, the Father and His will.<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text disabled_on=&#8221;off|off|off&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Blockquote&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Following Jesus\u2019 example, we know that true efficiency and the peace of God will be given us without limit!\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_testimonial author=&#8221;\uff08\u746a\u7ac7\u798f\u97f3 11\uff1a28-30\uff09&#8221;
