The devil attempts to make Jesus doubt the Father\u2019s word and tempts Him to prove Himself through \u201cperformance\u201d \u2014 by turning stones into bread.<\/p>\n<p>When we try to listen to God, we often hear similar noises: \u201cIf you were truly loved, why are you suffering?\u201d \u201cIf you were really a good Christian, why haven\u2019t your prayers been answered?\u201d These voices try to define us by achievement, wealth, or the approval of others.<\/p>\n<p>This is the battlefield we face every day. Psychologists note that low self-esteem is spreading like an epidemic, especially among high achievers and young people. <strong>Social media intensifies this comparison: we see others\u2019 curated lives and begin to question our own worth.<\/strong> The devil\u2019s logic is this: \u201cIf you were worthy, you should be richer, more successful, healthier.\u201d <strong>He tries to shift our identity from \u201cBeing\u201d to \u201cDoing\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text disabled_on=&#8221;off|off|off&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Blockquote&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.5&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 1213 reminds us that through Baptism we become \u201cchildren of God.\u201d This is an indelible spiritual mark. Jesus refused to prove Himself by performing a miracle because He did not need to prove who He was. He knew exactly who He was.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text disabled_on=&#8221;off|off|off&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Blockquote&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.5&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>When we attempt to listen to God\u2019s voice, the greatest interference often comes from doubts about \u201cwho I am.\u201d The devil tries to push us to prove our worth through performance, but God\u2019s voice has already affirmed us before we act.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.5&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; header_5_font=&#8221;|700|||||||&#8221; header_5_text_color=&#8221;#750059&#8243; header_5_font_size=&#8221;18px&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Our value lies not in our productivity, but in who we are.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Therefore, if we want to hear God\u2019s voice, we must return to the grace of our Baptism.<\/strong> God\u2019s voice is always affirming and life-giving: \u201cYou are my beloved Son.\u201d The tempter\u2019s voice, however, is always conditional: \u201cIf you accomplish this, then you will have identity and worth\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text disabled_on=&#8221;off|off|off&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Blockquote&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.5&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>To hear God, we must first lower the volume of self-doubt. We do not need to earn God\u2019s love through busyness, achievement, or others\u2019 approval.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.5&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; header_5_font=&#8221;|700|||||||&#8221; header_5_text_color=&#8221;#750059&#8243; header_5_font_size=&#8221;18px&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>The devil says, \u201cDo something to prove yourself!\u201d <strong>The Father says, \u201cNo matter what, you are loved.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Today, when that voice questioning your identity appears, simply answer it with the Father\u2019s declaration spoken over you in Baptism. <strong>You no longer need to prove anything. Do you tend to affirm or deny yourself based on your abilities and performance?<\/p>\n<p>In which areas of your life \u2014 work, family, church ministry, or elsewhere \u2014 do you feel the greatest pressure to \u201cprove\u201d your ability and value?<\/p>\n<p>If one day you were to lose your ability to work, would you still believe that you are God\u2019s beloved child? Yet deep in my heart, and in the way I act, I notice that I still doubt this identity. When I am tempted and enticed, my confidence is shaken.<\/p>\n<p>Please help me quiet the voices that tell me I must perform in order to be loved. I renounce the impulse to turn stones into bread to prove my worth. I choose to listen only to Your voice \u2014 the voice that called my name at my Baptism. I reaffirm that You are my Father and I am Your child. Your love and affirmation for me are without condition.<\/p>\n<p>Today, may this truth take firm root in my heart, so that I will no longer be shaken by the enemy\u2019s lies.
