Now Jesus models perfect alignment: His food is doing the Father\u2019s will. In contrast, the elder son\u2019s hidden sense of entitlement and envy separates us from the Father. Today, Jesus reveals to us the most perfect \u201ctuning\u201d: to let our whole being\u2014mind, heart, and spirit\u2014be fully aligned with the Father\u2019s will, so that His will becomes our deepest desire and our daily food.<\/p>\n<p>Imagine the scene after Jesus\u2019 conversation with the Samaritan woman at the well. The disciples urged Him to eat, but He replied, \u201cI have food to eat of which you do not know.\u201d (John 4:32) The disciples remained at a worldly level of understanding, but Jesus revealed the truth behind His words:<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text disabled_on=&#8221;off|off|off&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Blockquote&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.5&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cMy food is to do the will of the one who sent me and to finish his work.\u201d (John 4:34)<\/p>\n<p>For Jesus, true nourishment is not bread or rest, but perfect obedience to the Father\u2014the fulfillment of His will to save humanity.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.5&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; header_5_font=&#8221;|700|||||||&#8221; header_5_text_color=&#8221;#750059&#8243; header_5_font_size=&#8221;18px&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>This desire drove Jesus throughout His entire public ministry. When He taught us to pray, <strong>He said in the Lord\u2019s Prayer, \u201cThy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven\u201d (Matthew 6:10). In the agony of the garden of Gethsemane, He prayed, \u201cNot my will, but Yours be done.\u201d (Luke 22:42)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text disabled_on=&#8221;off|off|off&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Blockquote&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.5&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus also reminds us: \u201cNot everyone who says to me, \u2018Lord, Lord,\u2019 will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.\u201d (Matthew 7:21) Words alone are empty; only by doing the Father\u2019s will can we enter the Kingdom.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.5&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; header_5_font=&#8221;|700|||||||&#8221; header_5_text_color=&#8221;#750059&#8243; header_5_font_size=&#8221;18px&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><strong>The life of Jesus is a complete and unwavering \u201cyes\u201d\u2014a total obedience to the Father\u2019s will.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text disabled_on=&#8221;off|off|off&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Blockquote&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.5&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>When we contemplate the heart of Jesus, we clearly see God\u2019s desire: that our will be united with His, and that our desires be shaped by His plan.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.5&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; header_5_font=&#8221;|700|||||||&#8221; header_5_text_color=&#8221;#750059&#8243; header_5_font_size=&#8221;18px&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Yet knowledge alone is not enough. We may know the right words and be familiar with spiritual practices\u2014prayer, service, devotion\u2014but do we truly live out our faith?<\/p>\n<p>Jesus illustrates this with the Parable of The Two Sons: A father asks them to work in the vineyard. The first says, \u201cI will not,\u201d but later repents and goes; the second says, \u201cI go, sir,\u201d but does not go. Which one did the father\u2019s will? It was the first, who acted (Matthew 21:28\u201332). <strong>Without sincere action that stems from the heart, verbal or external obedience is meaningless. True sincerity lies in obedience, not in appearances.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>This reveals an important truth about our relationship with God: faithfulness is mutual.<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text disabled_on=&#8221;off|off|off&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Blockquote&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.5&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>God faithfully fulfills His promises, and we are called to respond faithfully to Him. A true relationship is built on living out God\u2019s Word, not letting it return empty.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.5&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; header_5_font=&#8221;|700|||||||&#8221; header_5_text_color=&#8221;#750059&#8243; header_5_font_size=&#8221;18px&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Consider this: if you were a father, which son would you trust more\u2014the one who promises but does not act, or the one who repents and follows through?<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text disabled_on=&#8221;off|off|off&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Blockquote&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.5&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;fold&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u00a0What God desires are children who take responsibility for their role, imitating Christ\u2019s perfect obedience. This Lent, let God\u2019s will become your food.
